Description
PCE-PCO 1 Particle Counter
Handheld laser dust measuring device for monitoring clean room particulate concentrations, indoor air quality, and dust exposure
This handheld laser dust measuring device is used for measuring the concentration of particles in the air. It is commonly used for monitoring clean rooms, indoor air quality, exposure to exhaust, tobacco or cigarette smoke, and other harmful air pollutants, as well as levels of airborne dust. Cigarette smoke particles typically range in size from 0.1 to 1.0 micron.
Various materials in dust form can be explosive. Some examples include food (candy, sugar, spice, starch, flour, and feed), grain, tobacco, plastics, wood, paper, pulp, rubber, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, dyes, coal, and metals (aluminum, chromium, iron, magnesium, and zinc). These materials are utilized in agriculture, chemical manufacturing, pharmaceutical production, furniture, textiles, fossil fuel power generation, recycling operations, metalworking, and processing (including additive manufacturing and 3D printing), among other industries and processes.
In addition to the risk of combustion, certain types of dust can also pose health hazards. Exposure through skin contact, eye contact, and inhalation can lead to sneezing, a congested or runny nose, itchy or red eyes, headaches, fatigue, fever, coughing, shortness of breath, dermatitis, asthma, bronchitis, pneumonia (such as Legionnaires’ disease and hypersensitivity pneumonitis), and cancer.
