Description
Handheld Digital Refractometer Salinity (Salt Content) / Chlorine
Waterproof digital salinity refractometer for determining salinity, ideal for measuring in % and ‰ / specific density / refractive index / chloride content.

The digital salinity refractometer from PCE Instruments is specially designed for precise analysis of aqueous solutions. With this refractometer, users can easily perform quality controls and determine the sodium chloride proportion in liquid foods or the salt content in aquariums.
The salinity refractometer is a precise measuring instrument that determines the refractive index of a liquid. It allows users to measure the salt concentration in just a small amount of sample. By dripping a few drops of liquid into the stainless-steel tray of the meter, a meaningful result can be obtained. The refractometer encloses a prism in the sample tray, and by measuring the refraction, the salt content can be determined. The digital salinity refractometer includes an integrated light source that prevents measurement errors caused by artificial light, such as fluorescent lamps in analogue refractometers. The measurement result is quickly and accurately displayed on the large, easy-to-read LCD display of the refractometer after automatic temperature compensation (10 to 40 °C). Users can choose between different measuring units: salinity (0 to 100.00%), chlorine content (0 to 57%), specific density (1.000 to 1.070), and refractive index (1.3330 to 1.3530 nD). Additionally, the display includes an integrated temperature indicator that shows the measured temperature of the liquid.
The glass prism of the refractometer is enclosed in the stainless-steel tray and can be easily cleaned before and after measurements. The refractometer is designed to protect the glass prism from damage. The device provides user-friendly handling with its three-button operation, minimizing any incorrect operation. It also includes an automatic shutdown function to save battery power. When not in use, the refractometer automatically switches off after one minute. Users can calibrate the refractometer at any time by putting a few drops of distilled water into the measuring tray and pressing the calibration button.
Applications

A refractometer is an optical measuring device used to determine the refractive index of liquids or solid substances. The salinity refractometer from PCE Instruments has versatile applications and is used in many areas. In food production, it is used to control brine, canned vegetables, soups, juices, and other products. In tram depots, it is used to check the de-icing agents for winter service. The refractometer is also suitable for checking sodium chloride content in saltwater aquariums.
Thanks to its user-friendly handling, the refractometer can quickly determine the salt content in liquids. Its handy and robust design makes it applicable anytime and anywhere. The refractometer is indispensable in food production, research, clinical laboratories, and the hobby sector, providing quick support for making the right decisions.
