The color meter is designed for fast and accurate color measurements of surfaces. It can determine the color ranges CIE-LAB, CIE-LCh, HunterLab, CIE-Luv, XYZ, RGB. The color meter has an LED light source with a wavelength of 400 … 700 nm and a measuring opening of Ø8 mm. Despite its small size, it has a repeatability of ΔE* from ≤0.1.

In addition to normal color measurement, the color meter can determine color differences. First, a reference measurement is performed on a reference object with the color meter. Then, measurements can be taken on test objects with the color meter. The colorimeter displays the difference between the reference and the test item. It can also store a permissible tolerance, which is indicated by a green display if adhered to, and a red display if the measured color is outside the tolerance.

The color meter can be connected to an Android device via the Bluetooth interface. The color meter’s app can be downloaded from the Play Store. Measurement parameters and the measurement itself can be controlled from the app, with the measurement result displayed in the app. This allows for measurement comparisons to be made between the app and the color meter. Additionally, if measured values are stored on the color meter, they can be retrieved through the app.

The color meter is commonly used in quality control in print shops to check print results and in the automotive industry to inspect painted surfaces. The battery life of the color meter allows for approximately 10,000 measurements per charge. The battery can be recharged using the USB-C interface.
